Is Grandhosting cheaper than top.host?
Month to month, yes: our Micro is €3.49 + VAT, top.host's Micro €11.50 + VAT. top.host gets cheaper per month if you prepay: €6.00 for one year, €5.70 for two. Its discounts apply to the first order only. Our price is the same every month, and a busy site pays for the extra server usage it needs.
Where are top.host's servers?
top.host lists “Hosting in Belgium” for its web hosting, with a Greek IP address, and says its VPS plans are in the Netherlands. We host mainly in Germany, always within the EU. Both keep your data in the EU.
I'm used to Plesk. What replaces it?
Our dashboard, which only manages WordPress: one-click login, a private test copy, backups, logs, uptime and cost for each site. For more control there's phpMyAdmin, a WP-CLI terminal over SSH with your own SSH keys, and a browser WP-CLI console (switched on per site). There are no mailboxes or FTP accounts to set up: mailboxes are a separate product, and files are handled through WordPress or WP-CLI rather than FTP.
