Pointer's servers are in Greece. Does that make it faster?
For visitors in Greece, a server in Greece is closer, and that matters most for the first byte of each page. How fast a WordPress site feels also depends on its speed cache, the computing power it gets and what happens on a busy day, which is where we focus. With our CDN switched on, images and static files are also served from locations across Europe, including Greece. If servers in Greece are a requirement for you, Pointer is the honest choice.
Is Grandhosting cheaper than Pointer?
Month to month, yes: our Micro is €3.49 + VAT, Pointer's Bronze €5.90 + VAT. On a two-year prepay Bronze drops to €3.90 + VAT a month, close to ours. Our price is the same whether you stay one month or two years, and a busy site pays for the extra server usage it needs.
How are backups different?
Pointer backs up the whole server every two days and keeps 14 days, restored on request. We back up each site every night, keep 30 days, store the backups separately in the EU, and you restore with one click in the dashboard.
